Diane Guerrero, Wilmer Valderrama, Cecile Richards And More Addressed Young Leaders At VL Power Summit In Las Vegas, Nevada -Voto Latino hosted its biggest leadership conference yet in a critical 2016 swing state

 This past weekend, Voto Latino, the leading non-profit organization empowering American Latino millennials by engaging them in the civic process, convened more than 500 young professionals for a two-day conference in anticipation of the 2016 presidential election in Las Vegas, NV. Participants learned from some of the country’s biggest names in politics, Hollywood, media, and technology and discussed hot topics in leadership, advocacy, media, technology, and a special 2016 election track.

Announced during the Summit were the two winners of Crash the Parties, the nationwide search for two aspiring Latino reporters to cover the Democratic and Republican National Conventions for Fuse. Arlene Santana from Los Angeles, California will cover the DNC and James Villalobos from Springfield, Massachusetts will cover the RNC. Also introduced was BRAVE, a national campaign that will empower Latino voters across the country. Attendees left encouraged to return to their communities, be their own heroes, and make their voices heard at the ballot box.

This year’s speakers included President of Planned Parenthood Cecile Richards, actor Diane Guerrero, Treasurer of the United States Rosie Rios, Voto Latino board member and Artist Coalition co-chair Wilmer Valderrama, actor Tracy Perez, actor and activist Nicholas Gonzales, celebrity chef and author Marcela Valladaloid, fashion designer Johana Hernandez, CNBC finance contributor Carmen Rita Wong, Executive Vice President of SEIU Rocio Saenz, actor and author Carlos Andrés Gómez, and President and CEO of Voto Latino Maria Teresa Kumar. Local and regional leaders included Nevada State Senators Ruben Kihuen and Pat Spearman, Assemblywoman and chair of the Nevada Hispanic Legislative Caucus Olivia Diaz, Artie Blanco of the Nevada AFL-CIO, State Director of the League of Conservation Voters Rudy Zamora, CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains Vicki Cowart, among others.

The VL Power Summit was supported by Hilton, Univision, XQ, Walmart, the MacArthur Foundation, and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).
